As the Staff Officer Close Protection at the Iraq Survey Group he created and commanded the military executive protection teams responsible for protecting many of the ISG and other high-value personnel. He developed a world class capability from very inexperienced material. As the Staff Officer Equipment Capability (Operations) in Northern Ireland he was responsible for consulting with other military and governmental groups, including the police, to identify gaps in their capability and develop methods of meeting those gaps with equipment, tactics, techniques and personnel.

The Densus Group was created to provide audit and consultancy services, assisting organizations in developing professionalism in the use of force by the military, prison service, police or private military contractors.
